Analysis of The Happening poster

The cars in the from are the focal point in the shot, your gaze then follows the road to see the glowing structure in the background which we can infer is a city. From this image we can infer that something has happened to leave all of these cars abandoned and to drive them off the road. Your eyes are also drawn to the sky in this image, it looks dark and menacing with the clouds, but then the city is lit up with an eerie glow, the darkness of the clouds appears to be moving towards/closing in on the city. From the dull colours used we can infer that something dark is happening, and from the words ' we've sensed it, we've seen the signs, now its happening' we can see that something has happened that may have been ignored for some time. Also this film was released on Friday 13th which gives the idea of unluckiness which could relate to the story.
